During the school holiday, my family and I went to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The trip was a wonderful vacation for me and I would really like to travel more to experience the amazing times of exploring new cultures, people and places. in my visit to Sri Lanka, we visited different types of temples, watched elephants, saw turtles, went to the national park. In the Maldives, we went to the Maldives Museum and went snorkeling and saw dolphins.
Me and my sister visiting the temple
This was the first day we arrived in Sri Lanka. As soon as we got settled in our hotel, we went straight to the temple near the mountains. It wasn't a hard climb. We entered the quiet temple with only the wind whistling in our ears. The colors of the painting was beautiful. The smell was old and the air was a bit humid but overall, it was a nice places to visit.
Family Photo at Sigiriya
The climbing was the hardest part here. I was so tired when I got to the top but the scenery was breathtaking. The sky was clear blue full of puffy clouds. It was super hot and I was sweating a lot but I loved seeing all the trees and small mountains/hills. The place was quite busy so you could hear all the tourists talking.
Elephants in the Wild
Elephants in the wild was one of the highlights of this trip. It wasn't like the elephants we see at the zoo or ride in Thailand. They were just free and wild. Their grey skin looked very rough and their tusk looked mighty and powerful. They went around in herds and it felt as if they were a big family supporting each other. The air was nice and windy. You could hear the elephants make some noise and see the cute little ones taking a bath.
Turtle Hatchery
We visited a turtle hatching sanctuary. It smelled like fresh seawater on the sandy shores. The baby turtles were really cute and small. They were smaller than the size of my hand. This turtle sanctuary also help the deformed turtles. The turtle I'm holding is a female turtle. The shell was hard but smooth. It smelled of seawater and it was very heavy.
Biggest Tree in Maldives National Park
The national park is one of the biggest parks in Sri Lanka. The tree I'm hugging is the biggest tree there. It's trunk was huge and felt like rough, hard, delicate wood. The roots took up a lot of space and the smell was very fresh. We saw many cute squirrels during the visit.
Selfie at Maldives Museum
#Selfie. We were at the museum of Maldives. The things there were very interesting. It was deadly silent and smelt like nothing. We walked through slowly admiring all the cool things in the museum. At last we were finished looking around and took a selfie while we waited for my sister and mum.
Dolphins and Snorkeling
This was my highlight of the trip. This is because we started off with snorkeling and saw many colorful fishes all different shapes and sizes. The coral was beautiful and the water was very clean and clear. You could hear all the bubbles underwater and the sounds were all muffled. The water was salty and made my mouth very dry. It was still a pleasurable experience. After lunch we had a wonderful time watching the dolphins. They were light grey and swam through the sparkly, mystical waters. The squeaky sound they made was adorable.I loved seeing these cute, friendly creatures that were swimming freely. I will never forget the moment.
Overall my experiences traveling to Sri Lanka and the Maldives was very memorable and exciting. I want to go travel more and try to have the best time possible. I enjoyed every single bit of the journey and will not forget the wonderful summer holiday.
Mao's Last Dancer is a drama movie made in 2009 based in a
true story of Li Cuxin. This movie genre is Drama and Romance and it is set in
China, Beijing and America, Texas. The story line is quite good and I enjoyed
it.
Li is sent away from his family to learn the dancing of
ballet. He is one of the weaker students however he had ambition, motivation
from his teacher and so trained harder to become the strongest ballet dancer.
As he grows older he is chosen by a company to go to America to learn a different
style of ballet. He stays there with Ben, the manager/teacher of the Houston
Company. He enjoys it there however as three months go by Li is asked to move
back to China. However he doesn't want to because he believes that he dances
better in America as the dancing style is more enjoyable so he marries an
American girl (Liz) and stays there. He keeps performing and 8 years later his
parents come to see him. They are very proud of their sixth son. In the end he gets
married with another woman Mary. And we do not know what happens to Elizabeth.
We just see her leaving him. We also see Li and Mary end the movie with a ballet piece seen by his family and friends.
During the movie there was a story told by his ballet
teacher about a frog in a well going outside for the first time to see the new
world because the toad tells him to. This story relates to Li as when he was
young he was given an opportunity to go learn ballet and his family was the ones
to tell him he should go, to accept the opportunity just like the toad.
Teacher Chan is Li's role model and inspiration of learning
ballet. I have many role models however I think that Jennifer Lawrence is my
most inspired person. She is funny, nice and a very good actress. I would
really like to be like her. Another role model of mine is Mitchell Obama. She
is probably the best woman speaker who has inspired many people. I also like Angelina Jolie because is like both Jennifer Lawrence and Mitchell Obama. They are all famous, inspiring people and have influenced me by a lot.
In my opinion the beginning of the movie was a bit boring
and not as interesting as the middle or the end. The turning point for me was
when teacher Chan was taken away because of the government and when Li is
chosen to America. After 3 months Li is asked to go back to China however he
refuses. The Pros of this is that he can stay in America with his wife,
Elizabeth and his friends. But the Cons is that he will not be able to see his
family again because he is not allowed in China anymore. Overall, I think that
the movie was interesting and quite good therefore I would rate it a 3.5/5 or
7.5/10. I recommend this film to those who like dramatic stories based in true stories. Also if people like romance and ballet.
Hello, my name is Serri and I am currently in GLPS summer camp which is a school for leadership. We do many speeches and debates in this camp. Here are a list of my words.
Overall, my favourite number us 1228, my favourite character is Stiles Stilinski and i was born in Campsie. I think there not that unique except for teen wolf actor, Dylan O'Brien. i like him so much I'm planning to watch all his movies and series. That's about all you need to to know about me.
